USB Fast Charging Travel Adaptors
Modern smart phones, tablets, cameras and other portable electronic devices charge via USB.
But did you know that USB charging isn't a level playing field?
Fast Charging is a new USB charging technology which attempts to maximise available electrical current to charge their batteries more quickly. Devices supporting Quick Charge could charge up to 75% faster* than those using conventional charging technology.
Manufacturers have developed proprietary standards, such as Apple for their own iPhone and iPad products and Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ for common Android products such as Samsung Galaxy S6 / Note and the HTC One M9.
Generally speaking, these standards use a sort of "handshake" so the device can determine what current is available and adjust the amount of current it draws.
If the charger used supports the maximum current the device can use (usualy 2.0 or 2.1 Amps), the device will charge as fast as possible. Otherwise, the device will charge more slowly.
What to look for in a USB charger
There are 2 critical features you should look for:
- Adaptors/chargers which are approved to Australian Standards for your safety and wellbeing
- Compatibility and testing with major brands including Apple, Samsung, HTC and Blackberry
Additionally, you should check the current rating (measured in Amps) - 2.1 Amps or higher can support Fast Charging.
All of our USB travel adaptors are approved to Australia Standards and are tested for compatibility.
