If you're planning on travelling light, pack a needle and thread, and make sure you know how to use it!
Sewing a broken button back on will save you a lot of hassle, and you won't have to pack those spare clothes 'just in case'.
For maximum value, take a travel sewing kit with six colours of thread, four buttons and other handy items.
