Easing Ear Pain

Date Posted:1 March 2015

If you suffer from severe ear pain when taking off or landing in an aeroplane, you're not alone. One in three people reportedly suffer ear discomfort when flying, otherwise known as ear barotrauma.

Pain arrives when the pressure inside the middle ear is different to the pressure outside. This happens when the eustachian tube connecting the middle ear to the back of the nose and throat is blocked.

Pressure-reducing earplugs have an attenuation filter that gradually regulates the pressure on the eardrum, and as a result relieves ear pain and discomfort.

Alpine FlyFit noise & pressure-reducing earplugs are reusable earplugs that can be used for years if properly cared for. They are one size fits all - the material softens and moulds to the shape of your ear canal due to body heat and are very comfortable to wear.
